Shutter Island

Hold Your Sanity!

What would you do if you lose your children and was killed by your crazy wife? What would you also do if you're locked up and assuming another person's life? Would you also kill your wife because she killed your children and also become crazy?

These are the questions you can ask yourself if you are in the lead role of this movie. This is another movie that is staying too long now in my hard drive. I was planning to watch this movie for weeks already but today is the only chance I had.

And since its starring one of my favorite Hollywood actors, I allotted 2 hours of my time to watch and now review it.

Shutter Island. Leonardo DiCaprio stars in this thriller as U.S. Marshall Teddy Daniels. He was sent to investigate the loss of a patient in the Boston's Shutter Island Ashecliffe Hospital. He personally pushed the assignment for personal reasons... to capture and kill the arsonist that killed her wife and children.

As he stays long in the island, he uncovers the secrets of the island and the reason why the patients are being held and treated. It unravels the mystery behind his stay and why he is there.

As the story goes, Teddy begins to doubt everything... his life, his job and ultimately... his sanity. Directed by Martin Scorsese.

Verdict. I was not really impressed with this movie. Although I admired the talents of DiCaprio and Scorsese, it did not helped the movie give its impact to the audience. There are many conversations, the scenes goes back to the past and goes to the present time without any distinction.

I mean Leo's appearance did not change aside from the clothes he is wearing. The story is overall good but it was just unjustified in this one. This movie is unlikely for a talented Leonardo DiCaprio or Martin Scorsese.
