Biting Tribute
Drinking alcohol is the initiation to manhood. Most of us was introduced to drinking alcohol by peers during celebrations like birthdays and holidays. And we are going to pay #Tribute to one of the Filipino bands that played with our drinking sessions. Here they are...
The Teeth
Teeth is composed of Glenn Jacinto on vocals, Jerome Velasco on guitars, Pedz Narvaja on bass and Mike Dizon on drums. Their song "Laklak" became a hit song to our generation of the 90's.
The band produced a total of six studio albums from 1995 to 2003 before being on hiatus for a over a decade. Teeth had a reunion concert last May 15 2014 and still active with their music as of this writing.
During hiatus, Mike co-founded the band Sandwich and Pedicab with Eraserheads' drummer Raymund Marasigan. While Jerome formed The Mongols with Ely Buendia.
I would say that Teeth has been the local version of Silverchair and Pearl Jam. Their heavy guitar riffs and and strong rhythm had brought us the music of our age. With angst and rebellious lyrics and somewhat have a pinch of fun, undoubtedly brought listeners to bliss.
I can still recall that "Laklak" is one of the first songs that I learned when I was playing the guitar. The chord was easy to learn and the transition was not that difficult.
To the band Teeth, thank you so much for the music and experience you shared with us. This 9MM Blogzine page is for you together with our 9MM Salute!
