In Memoriam
I'm a fan of comedy and laughs. My favorites are Dolphy, Babalu and Vic Sotto among others. I liked the slapstick humor and the great punchlines they deliver.
Philippine comedy died at some point but it rose again when gay comedy emerged. They performed in different comedy bars in the metro even did shows in the provinces. Most prominent of them would be Vice Ganda.
I really don't like gay comedy before because it mocks the audience. Making them appear bullied in a way. But they are already changing nowadays because there are other competitors already in the market.
But we will pay tribute to the very first gay comedian I saw and watched on television.
Chokoleit
1972 - 2019
Known as Jonathan Garcia in real life, is a comedian, actor and TV host. He also earned his degree in Mass Communication in Ateneo De Davao University.
Chokoleit appeared in several tele seryes and movies as the character that would always make the show light and not boring.
And whenever Chokoleit guests or performs at a show, he never lets his audience down. He can ridicule himself as if he is the ugliest person alive.
He suffered and died from heart attack after a show he did in Abra last March 9. Chokoleit was 46 at the time of his death.
Chokoleit, a 9MM Salute for you for giving laughter bringing joy to the Filipino people. Rest In Peace and make GOD laugh there.
Kapish!
