NBA 2009 Playoffs Predictions

Road To The Finals

As the regular season comes to an end, The NBA starts to heat up as 16 teams battle it out to become 2008-09 NBA World Champions. There are a lot of predictions out there but who knows, anything can happen.

And for me... since my favorite player Michael Jordan and the rest of the Chicago Bulls had their time, there are a lot of young guns out there hungry for the title. Today, I will post my top 9 contenders for the title and this is just my opinion. So read on and give me your comments.

Detroit Pistons. Even without Chauncey Billups and Ben Wallace from the 2003-04 Champions lineup, still the team possess a threat against other teams for the title. Added to the lineup was Allen Iverson, who can definitely score and direct the team on the floor. And don't forget the regulars, Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton, Tayshaun Prince and others would pose a good contest for the playoffs.

Dallas Mavericks. I don't know why the Mavericks keeps being on the playoffs but has never been a contender for the chanpionship. They have Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki, Jerry Stackhouse and Jason Terry all healthy. Is it the coaching staff or the management? Still they are a team to beat for me.

Chicago Bulls. My favorite team. Still on the verge of reconstructing since the old champion team, Chicago are up to the challenge of competing in the playoffs. Although they're still young to be champions again but with Loul Deng, Kirk Henrich and Derrick Rose on the line up... The Bulls are still raging for another championship trophy. Its only a matter of time.

San Antonio Spurs. Don't underestimate this team. They have been champions for 2003, 2005 and 2007. If you look at the probability, they have won the title for odd numbered season for the last 6 years. Still has the original lineup of Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Bruce Bowen and one of my favorite players, Manu Ginobili are all healthy and determined to win the gold this season. Although its boring if they get to the finals.

Houston Rockets. Very solid lineup. Ron Artest, Brent Barry, Shane Battier, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming are all in to get to the finals again. And the veteran shot blocker Dikembe Mutombo still on the reserve, The Rockets still has a chance for the championship this season... if Ron Artest would be kept leashed.

Miami Heat. Coming from the worst record they had in a regular season, The Heat is back in the playoffs again. But Dwayne Wade can't pull the team all by himself. Although Jermaine O'Neal, Daequan Cook and the others can provide support, still can't be a one man game. Good team, not for the finals though for me.

Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant, one of my least liked player. Although he can equal Michael Jordan, he cannot surpass the achievements of His Airness. The Lakers has a good lineup including Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Luke Walton and veteran Derek Fisher. Acquiring the services of coach Phil Jackson is not a guarantee of a championship ring, still The Lakers are a tough team to beat.

Boston Celtics. Kevin Garnett is not healthy. I want them to be champions again but can't see the future from Paul Pierce and Stephon Marbury. But there are Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, Leon Powe and the others to get their second consecutive title. Will coach Doc Rivers pull something up his sleeve to become champions again?

Cleveland Cavaliers. Lebron James and company is my contender for the championship title this season. With his supporting cast, Joe Smith, Wally Szczerbiak and Ben Wallace, there is no doubt Cleveland can quench their thirst for title. I also agree and vote for King James as the regular season Most Valuable Player with 28.4 Points, 7.2 Assists and 1.15 Blocks per game. I just wish they remain fit until the finals.

Kapish!
